Frequently asked questions about PICOMAX 56 mill

  • What applications is a milling machine with manual and CNC operation suitable for?

What applications is a milling machine with manual and CNC operation suitable for?

The PICOMAX 56 mill is particularly suitable for flexible manufacturing tasks – from single parts and small to medium batch sizes to frequently changing machining operations. Typical application areas include tool and fixture making, research and development, workshop manufacturing, and vocational training.

Thanks to the combination of manual operation and CNC machining, the machine can be flexibly adapted to a wide variety of tasks – from simple drilling and milling operations to more demanding CNC machining applications.

  • When does a combined milling and drilling machine with manual and CNC operation make sense?

When does a combined milling and drilling machine with manual and CNC operation make sense?

The PICOMAX 56 mill combines conventional machining with modern CNC technology. This allows simple milling, drilling, and tapping operations to be carried out manually without sacrificing the advantages of a high-performance CNC milling machine.

This enables fast, economical, and flexible machining, especially for single parts, small batch sizes, and frequently changing manufacturing tasks.

  • Why is the PICOMAX 56 mill particularly well suited for training?

Why is the PICOMAX 56 mill particularly well suited for training?

The PICOMAX 56 mill was specifically developed for practical, hands-on training. With three handwheels, simplified mill functions, and the ability to switch between manual operation and CNC mode, milling fundamentals can be taught clearly, safely, and close to real-world production conditions.

The machine supports both the introduction to conventional machining techniques and the learning of modern CNC manufacturing processes.

An additional CNC / manual key switch was specially developed for training purposes. This allows a reduced range of functions with an adapted display, so unnecessary functions can be hidden. Rapid traverse rates and spindle speeds can also be limited, supporting safe and step-by-step training.

Depending on the level of training, the FEHLMANN PICOMAX 56 mill can be used as a purely conventional milling machine, as a milling machine with contouring control, or as a full-featured CNC milling machine.

  • Can the machine also be operated without programming knowledge?
